HELP NEEDED to distribute free cloth bags in Chico
In Los Angeles, I attended an event where free cloth shopping bags were given for free in exchange for a pledge to use them.
Then I was pondering the gyres and feeling like I HAD to contribute. Then I found 350.org and heard their call for participation in a worldwide work event to be held on 10/10/10.
Sunday morning, before the Spiritual Activism meeting up at the Goddess Temple, the vision began.
I would like to coordinate a collaborative community project to make 10,000 cloth bags and distribute them to the community free of charge on 10/10/10.
I want to include students from K-college level so that they can learn, first hand, the ways in which they can effect change, educate the oldsters on how to shift their habits, and become conscious of what plastics are doing to our world.
It will involve lots of community education, fun, and raising awareness.
I have begun writing down a plan of action. The first step is to see who in the community wants to work on this with me. I want to have an organizational/action meeting asap…hopefully next week to get the ball rolling. October is not far away and this is a big project. But I know Chico cares and that we can accomplish this if there’s interest.
Please contact me here in comments or my email at pammanda at yahoodotcom if you want to participate or have any questions. Thanks.
Also if you have an interest, please spread the word via twitter, Facebook, blogs, talking, etc. Chico is a town of connections and I’ve found the best way to spread the word here is to…spread the word.
Blessings! - Pamm Larry
