Hi Everyone,

This meeting will be a technical session focused on designing battery boxes for the Chevy LUV conversion project.
Saturday, 11 February 2012 at 10am.
The location will be:
Brandstatt Brothers Shop
27 Rose Ave., Chico, CA

We will be using lithium batteries for this project so the design will be interesting to see.   Also you will be able to see the design of the coupling and adapter plate used to connect the 9″ GE motor to the LUV bellhousing and trasmission.

As you can see from the date for this meeting, we have changed to a once-a-month meeting schedule.  We will be meeting on the second Saturday of each month at 10am.   Please join us and bring a friend.

See you this Saturday at 10am.

ELECTRIC CAR CLUB (CHICO CHAPTER, EAA) MEETING – Sat. Jan. 14 2012, 10am

We will have our first Electric Car Club meeting of the year  this Saturday, January 14 2012 at 10am.   The location will be at:
27 Rose Ave., Chico, CA (Brandstatt Brothers Shop).

This is your opportunity to come and choose meeting topics for 2012.   We really want to hear your ideas for future meetings.   Having more electric cars on the road is very important for the well being of our country.   So please come and tell us how we can get people excited about owning and driving electric cars.

The second part of our meeting is “hands-on”.  We are going to begin the conversion of a Chevy LUV pickup from  gas engine power to electric motor power.   Bring your work clothes and help strip this vehicle down to the basics.   If you just want to watch, that’s great too.   Our goal is to get this pickup running on electricity by summer.

See you this Saturday at 10am.

Jerry Brandstatt,  EAA Chico Chapter President

ELECTRIC AUTO ASSOCIATION’s NEXT MEETING – Sat. May 14, 2011, 10:00 am

Hi Everyone,

The next meeting for the Chico Chapter of the Electric Auto Association will be at  10am on Saturday, May 14.  The meeting location will be at the Brandstatt Brother’s shop, 27 Rose Avenue on the west side of Chico.

For directions, please call 530-343-0331.

If you drive 20k miles a year and your car gets 20 miles-per-gallon, you will spend $5000 a year on gas at $5 a gallon.  If you drive that 20k miles in a plug-in electric conversion vehicle or production electric car, you will spend $500 to $1000 a year.  If you have solar power at home and a free re-charge outlet at work, you’ll drive for free!

At our meeting this month, we will look at the numbers and answer the following questions:

* When does it pay to convert your car to plug-in electric?
* Which cars make good conversions?
* Where are the conversion shops in Northern California?
* How hard is it to do your own conversion?
* What about reliability and repairs?

If you have been thinking about $5 gas and electric cars, please join us next Saturday, May 14th at 10am.

For you British MG fans, we are scheduled to have Peter McWade’s electric MG conversion to admire. You are also welcome to bring any other electric vehicles to meeting.  Thank you for your support.

Jerry Brandstatt, Chapter President
