GRUB Chico

In Brief: Growing Resources Uniting Bellies: We want to minimize our ecological footprint. Food systems and industrial agriculture as they exist today are extremely wasteful, generating 20% of the carbon emissions for the whole country. By using organic practices & ensuring that the food we produce stays local we can minimize fossil fuel usage. We intend to nourish our community with food and knowledge & deepen its connections. Benefit nights, volunteer days, restaurant compost pick up and time spent with kids, all contribute to our sense of community. As people continue to know their farmer, as kids learn to plant veggies & as individuals learn to collaborate & share we become closer to one another & our food ... the world is ours to create!

ORGANIC GARDENING WORKSHOPS @ GRUB: BACKYARD PERMACULTURE – Sun. Feb. 27, 2011

As part of its Spring Organic gardening workshop series, GRUB is pleased to host:  Backyard Permaculture.   Each workshop is $ 12.

On Sunday February 27
from 10:30 to 12:30 pm
at GRUB Cooperative – 1525 Dayton Road, Chico

Permaculture provides aframework for consciously designed landscapes that mimic the patterns and relationships found in nature. These systems yield an abundance of shelter, water, energy, and food for the provision of local needs that provide diversity, stability, and resilience for local populations.

Cathe’ Fish, a drylands Permaculture Design Consultant since 1987, will take the principals of Permaculture and teach you how to apply it to your backyard.  She has traveled the world studying and teaching the principals and has an upcoming course, March 12-20, that provides for the Permaculture Design Certification.  Come out to GRUB (note the earlier times than usual) to learn more!
