changing our local building codes

After our meeting at the chico grange on sunday I left feeling that there is plenty of energy for us to get together a group to start trying to get some of our local buildings codes changed for a greener chico.

It would be nice to be able to plumb under the house slab for future gray water harvest, a place very difficult to retro fit.

Reduce the  amount of off-street parking places required. This would help lower construction cost for the builder and  in turn for the owner/buyer. The Owner will be less inclined to have multiple  vehicle and more convenient to ride a bike or use public transportation.
