ELECTRIC AUTO ASSOCIATION’s NEXT MEETING – Sat. May 14, 2011, 10:00 am

Hi Everyone,

The next meeting for the Chico Chapter of the Electric Auto Association will be at  10am on Saturday, May 14.  The meeting location will be at the Brandstatt Brother’s shop, 27 Rose Avenue on the west side of Chico.

For directions, please call 530-343-0331.

If you drive 20k miles a year and your car gets 20 miles-per-gallon, you will spend $5000 a year on gas at $5 a gallon.  If you drive that 20k miles in a plug-in electric conversion vehicle or production electric car, you will spend $500 to $1000 a year.  If you have solar power at home and a free re-charge outlet at work, you’ll drive for free!

At our meeting this month, we will look at the numbers and answer the following questions:

* When does it pay to convert your car to plug-in electric?
* Which cars make good conversions?
* Where are the conversion shops in Northern California?
* How hard is it to do your own conversion?
* What about reliability and repairs?

If you have been thinking about $5 gas and electric cars, please join us next Saturday, May 14th at 10am.

For you British MG fans, we are scheduled to have Peter McWade’s electric MG conversion to admire. You are also welcome to bring any other electric vehicles to meeting.  Thank you for your support.

Jerry Brandstatt, Chapter President

“Chocolate Country”
at CSU-Chico – Ayres 120
Thursday April 28 at 7:30 pm (discussion afterwards until 10:30 pm)

In the isolated hill towns of the Dominican Republic, cacao farmers have been fighting a losing battle with the global economy for as long as any one can remember.  ”Chocolate Country” is the story of a village with a plan to turn the system on its head.

BENEFIT RAFFLE FOR LABELING GMOs & RED TAVERN DINNER – Sat. April 23, 2011

The Rights Of Spring
A Benefit For “GMOs: It’s Our Right To Know”
A 2012 CA Ballot Initiative

Saturday April 23 – 5:30 pm
ARC Pavillon – 2020 Park Avenue – Chico, CA

-Music by John Seid, Stevie Cook and Larry Peterson.
-Silent auction
-Dinner by Donna Garrison, Wine by LaRocca Vineyards, Beer by Sierra Nevada.
Tickets at Lyons Books, are $35.  They are also your entry to a raffle for dinner for two at Red Tavern.

Proceeds go to the Committee For The Right To Know ( California Recipient Committee, #1337480) formed to sponsor a state initiative to require mandatory labeling of genetically engineered foods and the factory farmed animals that are reared on them.

Farmers all over the world are taking a stand and fighting the GMO coporate agribusiness model. In India, they are dying and trying to ban GMOS in coms provinces. Argentina has successfully banned glyphosate in urban areas (due to illness of the citizens). The EU has just successfully enacted legislation to allow member states to ban GMOs entirely.

Can we reverse this tide?

I think we can…IF we unite and act NOW.

We are raising funds for the 750,000 signatures needed in the petition drive this fall that will get the bill on the ballot in the November 2012 election. Please come and support your right to know. If you are unable to attend, donations are always appreciated. Thanks!
